I provide a safe and non-judgmental atmosphere that serves as a foundation for inner healing. I have experience working with a variety of emotional and behavioral issues that span from therapy for depression and anxiety to relationship issues and couples counseling and much more. I determine the focus of treatment by what will be the best fit of each person and their situation. My goal is to help you attain the personal growth you are striving for.
What is Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT)?
This type of approach is most effective for treating anxiety and depression. CBT identifies the thoughts and behaviors that keep the unwanted symptoms in place. This approach explores what situations produce anxiety and work is done to control the associated thoughts and behaviors. In regards to cognitions, we may identify cognitive distortions and work to replace the thoughts. In targeting behaviors, we will set goals, explore self-talk, incorporate deep breathing, and practice affirmations.
What is Person-Centered Therapy?
This type of therapy is based on the underlying belief that every person has strengths and the ability to reach their full potential through personal growth, change, and self-actualization. Empathy, congruence, unconditional positive regard, active listening and reflection, and a judgement-free zone are all core elements practiced with this approach. Clients direct the sessions and are the experts of their lives while therapists are the experts in theories and methods of therapy. Client concerns and issues exist when they are not aligned with the client's innermost values and beliefs. Person-centered therapy explores congruence to ensure clients are authentic in the manner in which they are carrying out their lives.
